Scutellarin, also Breviscapin, is a glycoside of the flavonoid scutellarein and a natural polyphenol. It occurs in the Chinese fleabane Erigeron breviscapus and trumpet tree ( Jacaranda acutifolia ). Its name is derived from helmet herbs ( Scutellaria spp.).
Scutellarin is a crystallising in yellow needles, bitter-tasting substance that dissolves in ethanol and diethyl ether. Scutellarin, similar valerian, used as an herbal sedative.
