Scutellinia

Ordinary plate bristle Ling ( Scutellinia scutellata )

The bristle plate warmers ( Scutellinia ) are a genus of Ascomycota rights of the family of fire pillow relatives.

Features

Macroscopic characteristics

The shield bristle articles have all sessile 1 to 25 mm apothecia, the lively orange or reddish colors, and wear stiff, bristle-like hairs. The hymenium varies from whitish- ocher to yellow -orange to crimson. At the edge they have black or brown hair.

Microscopic characteristics

The spores are round to elliptical and are usually ornamented warty. In order to reliably determine the warts are visualized by staining with lactic acid - aniline blue. The asci have at maturity 2, 4, 8, or a multiple of 8 ascospores.

Ecology and occurrence

Sign bristle pieces live as saprophytes on the ground or on dead plant debris. They come cosmopolitan on all continents from the tropics to the Arctic. Schumacher shares the species in his monograph in four bioclimatic and geographic groups: tropical -equatorial, subtropical, temperate and boreal zone. Similarly, Schumacher tells you to come to their substrate: saprophytes on humus saprophytes on wood ( conifer and hardwood) and saprophytes in forests ( on various dead organic material). Accordingly, they virtually colonize assuming a constant humidity of each decomposing organic material. Suitable habitats are therefore brookside, shady moist forests, sources, channels, etc. You fruiting bodies more or less throughout the year, but preferably in the summer.

System

Perry and co-workers presented the shield bristle pieces in the clade 7 within the Pyronemataceae and showed the relationship with Ramsbottomia, Cheilymenia, Kotlabaea and Byssonectria.
