Sd.Kfz. 6

The Sd.Kfz. 6 ( Special car 6 - Middle Zugkraftwagen 5 t ) was a half-track of the German Wehrmacht. It was mainly used during the Second World War as an artillery tractor for the 10.5 -cm light field howitzer 18. The original introduction of the army took place 1934. Starting from 1943 the production in favor of the Wehrmacht and of the tractor caterpillar tractor East has been set. The reason was that the vehicles compared with the much more primitive Wehrmacht tractors were very complicated complex peace structures. This implied hence higher manufacturing and maintenance costs which could be reduced. Approximately 3,000 units were produced.

Technical Features

Unlike the Sd.Kfz 250, the vehicle was unarmored. The front wheel was used only for the steering wheel and had neither drive nor brakes. In an emergency, a chain steering could be switched on.
