Se-ma-for

Se -ma -for Produkcja Filmowa Sp z o.o. (Studio Małych form Filmowych - SMFF ) is an internationally renowned animation studio in the Polish city of Łódź. The company specializes in puppet animation films in stop-motion technique, but also offers other techniques such as computer animations. Board of the company is the film producer Zbigniew Żmudzki (* 1950).

It was founded film studio under the name Studio Filmów Kukiełkowych " filmu Polskiego ". The origins, according to the studios, the 1947 back as Zenon Wasilewski in his private apartment the first puppet film, Za Krola Krakusa turned. In 1960, the studio, to turn under Ryszard Brudzyński, not only animation but also short films. It allowed graduates of Film School in Łódź her film debut and it originated in the year, the first papercut and cartoons. Furthermore, the name of the studio in Se -ma -for in 1960 changed. The well-known in Germany and Austria puppet animation series The Moomins was produced here from 1978 to 1982. A first Oscar got the studio in 1983 for Tango ( 1980). 1990 attempted Se -ma -for in feature-length films, this failed. Only two feature-length films were produced: Siedmiomilowe Trampki and Mamo czy kury potrafia mówić. Increasingly got the film studio under competitive pressure and therefore the State Cinematography Committee announced in November 1999, the resolution of the state-owned enterprise. Then the company was ( oo Sp z) incorporated with limited liability on 20 December 1999. Under the leadership of Zbigniew Żmudzki the 2006 premiere of the 2008 Oscar-winning film Peter and the Wolf was born.
