Se-Ri Pak

Pak Se -ri ( born September 28, 1977 in Daejeon, South Korea ) is a professional golfer of the North American LPGA Tour. She is the most successful golfer of South Korea and five -time Major winner.

Career

On the advice and with the support of her father, she began playing at the age of 14 years, golf, and was in the course of their amateur career successfully in 30 tournaments.

Pak in 1996 Berufsgolferin and first played on the Korean LPGA Tour, where she won six tournaments. Then qualified Pak. During the 1998 season on the LPGA Tour Already in the first season you get two major victories in the LPGA McDonald's Championship and the U.S. Women 's Open Championship. Of course Pak as Rookie of the Year ( best newcomer ) was excellent.

Since then she has won nearly 30 tournaments on the Tour, including three other majors. In 2007, she was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame. This Pak Se -ri was the youngest surviving member of this Hall of Fame. (Young Tom Morris died at age 24, was admitted posthumously. )

Her impressive track record and her ambition to learn the English language and to use, helped her in the U.S. to great popularity. However, it is overshadowed by the even more successful Annika Sorenstam.

How Sorenstam and Pak has already participated in a professional men's tournament, the SBS Super Tournament 2003 on the Korean Tour. The Korean tour is the second- strung ( second level ) Tour Asian Tour and does not count for the World Golf Rankings. Unlike Sorenstam, it survived the cut and was eventually tithe. However, Sorenstam tried in a much stronger tournament of the PGA TOUR.

At the LPGA Championship 2005 Pak missed the cut for the first time after 29 major launches. In retrospect, it turned out that she had a finger injury. The following year, she answered back impressively, winning the major in the play-off against Karrie Webb on the first extra hole.
