Seabear

Seabear is an indie folk band from Reykjavík, Iceland.

Band History

Seabear initially started as a solo project of Sindri Sigfússon, who had for some time as a singer-songwriter composed his own songs. Early 2000s played Sindri in his home studio the album I'm Me On Sundays and EP Singing Arc, which he also produced both self. The first increase in staff, the project had to be registered, when Sindri should occur in Berlin for the first time live and so his two friends Örn Ingi Ágústsson and Guðbjörg Hlín Guðmundsdóttir asked if they would support him musically.

Finally, there were six band members who together have grossed in Sindris small home studio the first album. The Ghost That Carried Us Away was released in late 2007 and received very good reviews. Promotion and distribution took over the Berlin label Morr Music, which had tied the band for three albums per se. 2007 was the band on a European tour on the road and also acted in Germany. During this time the musician Sóley Stefánsdóttir came seventh member to the band. She plays guitar and keyboards. In November 2007, Seabear brought out a cover of the Undertones as a single with Teenage Kicks.

In 2008, the band went on tour intensively. 2009, it was quiet around the group. 2010 brought with Seabear Lion Face Boy / Cold Summer after a long time a single out. It was followed by the album We Built A Fire.

Style

The composed of Sindri songs are characterized by their melodic structure and lyrical sensitivity. The musical background of delicate, restrained singing through guitar, piano, drums, glockenspiel, strings, bass and harmonica gives the music a playful touch of easy-listening folk.
