Seal of Madagascar

The Seal of Madagascar was introduced in its present form in 1998. It is based on an older version of 1992, in which the color and the state motto were changed.

Basis of the seal is a gold round disc. In the center of the disc, the map of the island is shown on a smaller silver plate. Beyond lie stylized fronds of Ravenala tree. Beneath the silver plate to find a bovine head and rice fields. At the edge of the coat of arms has two lettering in Malagasy. At the top of the label is the name of the state: Repoblikan'i Madagasikara and at the bottom, between two ears of rice is the state motto: Tanindrazana, Fahafahana, Fandrosoana, in German: fatherland, freedom, progress.
