Seal of Pennsylvania

The seal of the U.S. state of Pennsylvania has as its central object a shield.

Description

The shield contains the top third of a ship under full sail, in the middle of a plow and in the lower third of three wheat bundle.

These symbols represent the importance of trade, labor, perseverance and agriculture for the state's economy, as well as some of its geographical parts (Philadelphia, the largest city of the state is, for example, by the ship represented ).

On both sides of the shield are a corn stalk and an olive branch; this represents the recognition of the State for its past and hopes for the future

An eagle standing on the shield symbolizes the sovereignty of the state. The outer ring of the seal bears the words " Seal of the State of Pennsylvania ."
