Seal River

The Seal River ( "Seal" is the English word for " seal ") is a 260 km long river in northern Manitoba in Canada.

It has its origins in Shethanei Lake and flows to Hudson Bay. The Shethanei Lake, of the two headwaters of the Seal River, the North Seal River and the South Seal River, fed.

The Seal River was nominated in 1987 for the Canadian Heritage Rivers System and recorded in 1992.

Geography

With a length of 260 km of the Seal River is one of the four major rivers in the northern region of Manitoba. Of these it is the northernmost, which has no dams. Its catchment area covers an area of 50,000 km ². The river is located far away from settlements in an isolated wilderness. The next places are Churchill and the small Tadoule Lake. Churchill is located about 45 km south of the mouth of the river in the Hudson Bay, while Tadoule Lake is located far inland near the source. There are no permanent settlements along the river course.
