Sean Astin

Sean Astin ( born February 25, 1971 in Santa Monica, California) is an American actor, director, writer and film producer.

Life

His parents are the actors Patty Duke and John Astin, Astin, however, is not the biological father. Astin graduated from UCLA in History and American Literature and Culture. 1973 his (half ) brother Mackenzie Astin, was born, who is also an actor.

Astin has been active as an actor since his childhood. Through his mother he got in 1981 with eight years his first role in the TV movie Please do not hit me, Mum. From his early commitment to his starring role in The Goonies by Richard Donner stands out with the participation of Steven Spielberg. Further roles he took in War of the Roses, Bulworth, Boy Soldiers and Kimberly. You could see Astin in the title role of the football saga Rudy. For his performance in The Low Life, he was awarded Best Actor at the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival.

His worldwide breakthrough Astin with the Lord of the Rings trilogy, in which he played the hobbit Samwise Gamgee. For this role he received several nominations and awards.
