Sean Blanchard

Sean Blanchard (born 29 March 1978 in Greater Sudbury, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played in the 2012/13 season for the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

Career

Blanchard began his career in 1994 in the Canadian Junior Football League OHL with the Ottawa 67 's. After his third season, he was selected as the top scoring defender of his team in the NHL Entry Draft in 1997 by the Los Angeles Kings in the 4th round to 99th position. A year later the links Sagittarius signed his first professional contract and played the following three years, both in the East Coast Hockey League with three teams as well as in the American Hockey League with the Lowell Lock Monsters, as well as in the International Hockey League with the Grand Rapids Griffins and the Manitoba Moose.

For the 2001/02 season, the Canadians decided a move to Europe, where he accepted a contract with the London Knights in the British Ice Hockey Superleague. The two years in England, he worked in Italy at SV Ritten. The season 2005/ 06 Blanchard spent in Switzerland with the ZSC Lions. He then moved back to North America and played back in the ECHL, this time at the Augusta Lynx. 2007, Blanchard wrote a contract with Iserlohn Roosters of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga, of which he was initially committed as a try -out player for ten days, but already licensed after three days due to positive training experiences. For the 2008/09 season the Canadians then moved to league rivals Hamburg Freezers, after only one year to the Frankfurt Lions. After the dissolution of the Lions in July 2010, Blanchard played in the season 2010/ 11 for the Nuremberg Ice Tigers. Since there was no contract extension in Nuremberg remained Blanchard in the next season without a club at first, until he was taken in December 2011 again from the Iserlohn Roosters under contract. In August 2012, he signed a contract with the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg. After Blanchard had remained rather colorless in the season and could put no pulses, no new contract was offered to him at the end of the season.
