Sean Elliott

Sean Michael Elliott ( born February 2, 1968 in Tucson, Arizona ) is a retired American professional basketball player who was active in the NBA with the San Antonio Spurs and the Detroit Pistons.

Career

Elliott played basketball at Cholla High School in Tucson, before he went on hunting baskets for the University of Arizona. For his performance in the fourth and final season at the University he even won the nationwide award Wooden Award as the best college player.

Elliott was selected in the first round in the NBA Draft in 1989 by the San Antonio Spurs, for which he was most of his NBA career active. For his achievements in the first year as a pro Elliott All- Rookie Second Team was called to the NBA. Only the 1993/94 season he played for the Detroit Pistons, having joined the company on 1 October 1993 along with David Wood in exchange for Dennis Rodman and Isaiah Morris to Detroit. The Pistons wanted to give to the Houston Rockets in February 1994 it originally. However, this change did not come about because Elliott did not pass the health check for the Houston Rockets. After the season in Detroit, he moved then in exchange for the draft rights to Bill Curley and the right to a second-round draft pick back to the San Antonio Spurs.

In the season 1998/99, Sean Elliott was an important performer of the Spurs in San Antonio's NBA Championship win.

Elliot had to undergo a kidney operation on 16 August 1999. He received a kidney from his brother Noel. On March 13, 2000, he played for the first time after the operation for the Spurs and was with this game against the Atlanta Hawks, the first player, who returned to the NBA after a kidney transplant again.

2001 Sean Elliott explained his retirement from professional basketball. He is still the leader of the club for Spurs turned and tried three points throws ( 563 of 1485 three-pointers ). In his career he scored an average of 14.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.

During the 2003/ 04 season he analyzed basketball games for NBC, ABC and ESPN. Since the season 2004/ 05 he is a commentator for the Spurs at local transmissions.

On 6 March 2005, Elliott's jersey number " 32 " retired from the Spurs out of the game mode and the jersey symbolic, hung from the ceiling of the AT & T Center, the venue for the San Antonio Spurs. The back number " 32 " is no longer awarded in his honor.
