Sean Hill

Sean Hill ( born February 14, 1970 in Duluth, Minnesota ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player who in his active period from 1988 to 2009 included for the Montreal Canadiens, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, Ottawa Senators, Carolina Hurricanes, St. Louis Blues, Florida Panthers, New York Islanders and Minnesota Wild played in the National Hockey League.

Career

Sean Hill began his career as a hockey player in the team of the University of Wisconsin- Madison, for until 1991, he was active in 1988 and with whom he won the championship of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association in the 1989/90 season. During his university years he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1988 in the eighth round as the 167th overall player of the Montreal Canadiens. For the defender came Montréal as well as for their farm team of the American Hockey League, the Fredericton Canadiens in the playoffs of the season 1990/91 for his debut in professional hockey. After he was employed in the following season almost exclusively in the farm team, he was in the 1992/93 season the team of Montreal, which won the prestigious Stanley Cup.

On 24 June 1993, Hill was selected in the expansion draft by the newly formed Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. On 8 October 1993, the first goal was scored him in the franchise history of the Mighty Ducks, as these documents with the Detroit Red Wings 2:7 in the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim. Overall, Hill scored in 68 games for the Californians seven goals and prepared before 20. He then moved after a year to the Ottawa Senators. In these he remained for three seasons before he was released to the Carolina Hurricanes on 18 November 1997 in exchange for Chris Murray. After his contract was not renewed signed the Americans on July 1, 2000 as a free agent contract with the St. Louis Blues, but returned at the beginning of the 2001/02 season to the Hurricanes back. With the team from North Carolina, he failed this season until the playoff finals for the Stanley Cup to the Detroit Red Wings. He himself contributed four goals and assists in the playoffs significantly to the achievement of the final matches.

On 15 July 2004 Hill received as a free agent contract with the Florida Panthers. However, as the following season failed due to the lockout, he played in the 2004/05 season a single game. Following the resumption of gaming operations in the NHL for the season 2005/ 06 he was for one year each for the Florida Panthers, New York Islanders and Minnesota Wild on the ice. On 20 April 2007 he received a 20 Matches permanent lock on the assumption of a prohibited substance. He was the first NHL player that violated its own anti-doping program. He then went to Europe, where he received a contract with EHC Biel promoted from the National League A for the 2008/09 season. At the end of the season the Olympians ended in 1992 at the age of 39 years of his career.

Internationally

For the U.S., Hill participated in the Junior World Cup 1990, the 1992 Winter Olympic Games in Albertville and the 1994 World Cup in part.
