Sean Mathias

Sean Mathias ( born March 14, 1956 in Swansea, Wales, UK ) is a British actor, director and screenwriter.

Life

Mathias began his career with small roles in films and television series. In addition to his appearances as an actor Mathias was successful with his theater productions and won several prizes.

Its implementation of Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya at the National Theatre Cottesloe was nominated for five Olivier Awards.

In 1994, Mathias was nominated for his productions of stage plays Les Parents Terrible and Design for Living Best Director for the London Evening Standard Theatre Award. For the two plays he was awarded in the same year with the London Critics Circle Theatre Award ( Drama Theatre Award).

For the film, Bent starring Clive Owen, Lothaire Bluteau, Ian McKellen and Mick Jagger in the lead roles Mathias was awarded in 1997 to the nternational Film Festival in Cannes with the Award of the Youth for the best foreign film. That same year, Bent was nominated on the Gijón International Film Festival for Grand Prix Asturias. In 1998, Bent took second place in Emden International Film Festival and won the Best Feature Film at the Torino International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival.
