Sean P. F. Hughes

Sean Patrick Francis Hughes ( born December 2, 1941 in Farnham ( Surrey ), England ) is a British Professor Emeritus of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Career

After studying medicine in London, he was, among other things formed at the Middlesex Hospital. He turned to the academic career and worked in research and teaching at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School and Hammersmith Hospital in London.

In 1981 he was appointed to the orthopedic department of the University of Edinburgh. Clinically, he worked as an Honorary Consultant at the Princess Margaret Rose Orthopaedic Hospital. With the physicist Ian McCarthy, the lab technician Stuart Robertson and many colleagues he ran physiological basic research ( bone blood flow, bone infections). He had to degenerative disc disease special clinical interest. He developed an external fixation (Hughes Sukhtian ) for the treatment of open fractures.

In 1991 he was appointed to the Imperial College London School of Medicine. As a clinician, he worked at Charing Cross Hospital, and he led the orthopedic service from Hammersmith Hospital NHS Trust.

With his wife Felicity Hughes, a bacteriologist, he lives in Gloucestershire. Two daughters and a son grow up.
