Sean Russell (author)

Sean Russell ( born 1952 in Toronto, Ontario ) is a Canadian fantasy author.

Life

At the age of three years, Russell moved with his family in a then rural outskirts of the city, where they lived in a hut on the beach of Lake Ontario. Life on the coast awakened his love of water, which is evident in many of his books. In his childhood he was fascinated by the adventure novels of Mark Twain. At the age of 10 he decided to become a writer. For fantasy he came, however, until much later, mainly inspired by the reading of JRR Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. After graduating, he moved first to Vancouver, two years later to Vancouver Iceland, where he still lives with his family today. His first novel he wrote in 1991 and has since made a name as a writer of sophisticated fantasy.
