Searcy County, Arkansas

The Searcy County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Marshall. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located in northern Arkansas, about 50 km away from the border with Missouri and has an area of 1,728 square kilometers, of which four square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered by the following counties:

History

The Searcy County was formed on December 13, 1838 from parts of Marion County. It was named for Richard Searcy, an early pioneer of the Arkansas Territory.
