Sebastian Stefaniszin

Sebastian Stefaniszin ( born July 22, 1987 in Berlin) is an Austrian- German ice hockey goaltender who stands since April 2012 at the Graz 99ers of the Austrian Hockey League contract.

Career

Born in Berlin, began his hockey career with the local polar bears Berlin, where he went through all the junior teams. At age seventeen Stefaniszin first played for the polar bears Juniors Berlin in the Oberliga Nord -Ost. In addition, the goalie was used in the 2004/05 season three times as a back -up in the DEL team of polar bears and celebrated with the DNL team the runner-up. For the first time Stefaniszin was appointed at the age of 16 years in a junior national team of the German Ice Hockey Federation and played in the U18 World Cup 2005 game.

On 1 December 2005, the Left Catcher played his first game for the DEL Hamburg Freezers. The polar bears had loaned him to the Alster, because the hamburgers had to contend with major injury concerns, especially at the goalkeeper position. Of the four games for Freezers, Stefaniszin won two. Later, the goalkeeper was allowed to play three times for polar bears in the DEL. In the U20 World Cup 2007 goalkeeper stood in five of six games on the ice.

Stefaniszin completed at that time still an apprenticeship as a wholesale and foreign trade merchant. Nevertheless, he decided to season 2007/ 08 for a change to the Iserlohn Roosters, where he was employed as a spare man behind the Canadian goalkeeper standard Maracle. He also received a mining license for the mosquitoes eating in the 2nd Bundesliga to play matches. At the same time Stefaniszin in the NHL Entry Draft, was selected in the fourth round in 2007 to 98th position by the then reigning Stanley Cup champion Anaheim Ducks. After his first season in the Sauerland region of the keeper extended his contract until 2011. During the 2008 /09 season Stefanszin triggered the actual number one Maracle in the meantime as a regular goalie off after his performance failed to meet expectations. The next year he formed with Danny from the birches a German Torwartduo, in which both players were fighting for the position as the first goalie. At the beginning of the season of the Berlin stayed in the rookie camp of the Anaheim Ducks, so from the Birch played the first five games. Subsequently, the two goalkeepers played alternately. Coach Ulrich Liebsch left out the Birch often the advantage Stefaniszin denied in the first half of the season just seven games. In June 2011 he received a contract for the 2011/12 season at the Vienna Capitals of the Austrian Hockey League, where Stefaniszin acted as second goalie in the sequence. He also received some missions with the second team of the club in the national ice hockey league.

End of April 2012 he transferred within the EBEL to the Graz 99ers.
