Sebastiano Nela
Sebastiano " Sebino " Nela ( born March 13, 1961 in Rapallo ) is a retired Italian footballer.
For the Italian soccer team played the defender, which could be used on both wings, five games. In the club he played for Genoa CFC, AS Roma and Napoli.
Career
In the club
Sebastiano Nela began his career at Genoa, for he 1978/79 made his professional debut in Serie B. Already 1979/80 he was a regular for the Grifoni and in the following season, he went with the trained Gigi Simoni team to Serie A.
For the 1981/82 season Nela moved to AS Roma, for whom he 's 0-0 draw against the U.S. Avellino 20 -year-old made his debut in Italy's top flight on 13 September 1981. The defender was also the capital club right away team regular and won 1982/83 season under Nils Liedholm the only Italian league titles in his career. The following season he won with the Roma against Hellas Verona won the Coppa Italia. In Europe Champions Cup one had to be beaten in the final of the Liverpool 2:4 on penalties. 1985/86 won Nela with AS Roma again the Coppa Italia in 1987 he retired in an accident an injury that put him out of action for almost a year.
After his third Coppa Italia victory in 1990/91 Sebastiano Nela left home in 1992, the Roma and went to Napoli, where he in 1994 his professional career ended.
Overall Nela denied 315 Serie A matches and scored 16 goals.
In the National Team
Nela graduated from 1981 to 1982 under then- coach Azeglio Vicini total of five matches in the Italian U- 21 team. He made his debut on 23 September 1981 in the away match against Bulgaria for the Azzurrini. In his five appearances in the U -21 teams scored only three goals, of which Italy won a game.
At the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, where Nela with Italy took part in the football tournament, he completed three games and finished with his team to fourth place.
For the national team of Italy's defensive player graduated on May 22, 1984 his first international match, which they lost 0-1 against Germany. In the following three games against Austria, Greece and Malta respectively a victory for the Squadra Azzurra could be won. The highlight of his national team career was his appointment to the Italian squad for World Cup 1986. His last assignment Nela denied on April 18, 1987 again against Germany, the game ended goalless.
After the active career
Since his career end Sebastiano Nela works as a TV commentator.
