Founding and history of the company

1840 began the independent locksmith ACC Joachim build scales in Hamburg. The knowledge necessary for this purpose he had previously acquired at the Strasbourg mechanic and monk Friedrich Alois Quintenz, who in 1821 invented the decimal scale. Over the next thirty years, developed from the locksmith's shop, a small factory operation. As Joachim died in 1874, the importance of the factory went back. Only Frederik Vogel revived the activities again. The businessman bought the scales factory in 1888, expanded the product range and introduced the brand name seca one, he had to protect 1897.

1934 Frederik Vogel handed the line to his son Robert. This led the company through the Second World War and immediately after the war began with the successful reconstruction. When he died in 1966, his son Sönke bird joined the company.

Sönke bird decided in 1970 for a new company concept, focusing on medical weighing and measuring: products that are needed for diagnosis and therapy in medicine, in order to determine the weight of the patient precisely. The range has been expanded and is represented in all international markets.

On 31 March 2010, Sönke bird withdrew from operations and joined the advisory board of the company. The management has since been in the hands of his sons, Robert M. Vogel (Sales & Marketing) and Frederik Vogel ( technology). The Finance division is headed by Thomas Wessels.
