The second letter of Paul to Timothy, also briefly called 2 Timothy, is a book of the New Testament of the Christian Bible. It is divided into four chapters since the Middle Ages.

Chapter 1

Prescript, admonitions. Mentioned is the faith of the ancestors, mother and grandmother (2 Tim 1:3-5 EU), which does not fit to the beginnings of the Christian communities and points to future constitutional time.

Chapter 2

Encouragement in struggle and suffering, warning of disputes and heresies.

Chapter 3

Remarks about the end times, to follow admonition of Paul's teaching. This includes discussion of the Scripture that presuppose already a form of canonization and a collection of Paul's letters. (2 Tim 3:14-16 EU)

Chapter 4

Continuation of the teaching of Paul, Notes on the imminent death of Paul, it is formulated as if it has already been done (2 Tim 4:6-7 EU), warning against certain people.
