Secundus of Asti

Secundus of Asti ( Asti † 119 ) was an early Christian martyr and saint.

The legendary according to tradition, Secundus was a patrician and officer of Asti in Piedmont. He received the baptism in Milan. He is said to have buried the bishop of Tortona, Martianus, who is himself as a disciple of Barnabas after his martyrdom. Secundus was then fled from his pursuers of Tortona to Asti, where he then when he wanted to visit the Holy Calocerus, had been captured and then tortured. Finally, he was beheaded.

Asti revered Secundus as its patron saint, his relics should be located in the Cathedral of San Secondo in Asti. Commemoration of the Holy is the 29th of March in Asti also the translation of the relics is celebrated on June 1.
