History

Seeham lies in the pre-Alpine hills on the western shore of Lake Obertrum. The place has been built on the alluvial fan of the Altbachs. The landscape owes the mighty river of ice that once pushed out from the mountains, its appeal. The three Trumer Lakes, then a single large lake, are now connected by channels yet.

Already people settled along the lake in prehistoric times on, lived on fishing, hunting and farming. Then let the Hallstatt graves close in Innerwall. For Christ's birth, the area around Seeham settled by the Romans. In Kirchstätt ( upper strand ) was found a " hypocaust " (heating plant) from the Roman period. In the 7th century, then the Bavarians settled, the Christianized this area too. (St. Rupert - patron saint of Salzburg). The Überfuhr of Seeham to Mattsee played a major role in the earliest times. Seeham never emerged specifically, his skill and his story was linked to Mattsee.

1384 and 1385 as "good at Indian Forest ( Innerwall ) and Aynolsdsfelden ( Vienna) on Haunsberg in Seehaimer - parish " was sold to the chapter on Mattsee. Here the name is Seeham (Home on the lake) first mentioned.

1398 came the Trumer Lakes area into the possession of the Archbishop of Salzburg. This broke on an economic and cultural growth of the area. The old documents about Seeham go back not too far. The start of school is expected to fall to the year 1688. The old school house stood near the church, but was completely destroyed by fire in 1842. From 1853 to 1967, the classes were held in Kramer Seppl House, 1967 was the construction of the new elementary school, one of the most urgent tasks of the municipality Seeham, completed. Curate Rohrmoser began in 1931 the construction of the church. The older parts date back to around 1400 and earlier. The old walls were on pilots who were rotten, walls and vaults already showed wide cracks.

The importance Seeham today lies in tourism. The first tourist influx is listed in the middle of the last century to the local blacksmith and " miracle doctor " David Black, whose " Anwendkuren " numerous healing seekers attracted. Seeham soon developed into a " summer resort ". The " German newspaper" writes on August 23, 1891: " The small town Seeham on Mattsee Kronlande in Salzburg, which annually hosts a chosen company of summer guests ..."

1927 bought by the tourist office of the Park - built a tennis court and a land bridge in the sequence. In 1954, the new bathhouse their determination is passed. In the years that large projects be tackled: Purchase of the Zacherl House ( parking is created ), the beginning of the construction of a boardwalk path and expansion of trails.
