Seemabaddha ( Bengali: সীমাবদ্ধ, Sīmābaddha; translated Limited ) is an Indian film by Satyajit Ray in 1971, he was based on the novel by Mani Shankar Mukhopadhyay Seemabaddha. .

Action

Shyamal is vice president of sales for fans in the British company " Hindusthan Limited Peters " in Kolkata that manufactures fans and lamps. He is married to Dolan, and lives in a corporate apartment. With a colleague he competes for a top job of the company.

His sister in law Tutul comes from Patna to spend a few days with Shyamal and his wife. She envied her sister all about her marriage with the idealistic Shyamal. Shyamal Tutul shows the city life with its parties, clubs and horse racing.

One day Shyamal noticed that, for the export to Iraq of charge fans is damaged. However, not enough time to replace them. Since this could lead to the post of Director in the burst of export supply contract and the end of his hopes, Shyamal can provoke a strike among the workers. A factory watchman is seriously injured and the lockout of workers is explained. This Shyamal wins the time required for the new production and ultimately saves the contract.

Background

Seemabaddha is the second film by Satyajit Ray's Calcutta trilogy, which also includes the films Pratidwandi (1970) and Jana Aranya (1975 ) belong. They deal with the effects of labor market and economic aspects of the city to the educated youth.
