Seether

Seether is a post-grunge band that originally comes from South Africa.

Band History

The band was founded in 1999 by Shaun Morgan Welgemoed (vocals, guitar), Dale Stewart (bass, vocals) and Dave Cohoe (drums). At that time the band was known under the name of " Saron Gas ". Under this name they released their first album in 2000, "Fragile", which is available only in South Africa. When the band emigrated to the United States, leaving a founding member Dave Cohoe the band for personal reasons. During the parade, the band changed not only by the South African label Musketeer Records to Wind-Up Records, but also changed its name to " Seether ", based on the eponymous song of the band Veruca Salt, who liked the band members very well.

For their second album "Disclaimer" took Josh Freese drums. Some songs from the debut album Saron Gas have been added for complete Disclaimer. Shortly before the release of the album drummer Josh Freese was replaced by Nick Oshiro. In addition, African Nick was hired as a touring guitarist, but this was only a short time band member. In October 2002, Pat Callahan came as second guitarist in the band. One year later, Kevin Soffera replaced the drummer Nick Oshiro. When he got out in late 2000 for personal reasons, John Humphrey was his successor, which even today is still a member of the band.

Seether was known primarily for a re-recording of the song " Broken " as the Punisher soundtrack with Evanescence singer Amy Lee, with the Morgan led a relationship. In addition, the frontman Morgan a vocal similarity to late singer Kurt Cobain is rumored that contributed a lot to the popularity.

The long awaited third album "Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces" was released on 23 October 2007. Seether won their first South African Music Award in the category " Best Rock: English " for their album Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces.
