Seeve at Jesteburg

River

The Seeve springs southeast of Undeloh, OT Wehlen in the nature reserve Lueneburg Heath. A first barrage can be found in Holm, here drives the flow of the Holmer mill, and up to the seventies a sawmill. Other cities on their way are Lüllau, Jesteburg, Bendestorf, Ramelsloh. When Horster Mühle in Horst she drives a water wheel to generate electricity. Next it flows past Lindhorst, Hittfeld Karoxbostel and Glüsingen, the Seeve is the district boundary to the village of stitches here. From the underpass west yard of mesh it flows partly channeled as Seevekanal towards Harburg for the purpose of supplying cooling water to the Harburg Phoenix works, but for the most part continue through the village Hörsten and the nature reserve "Lower Seeveniederung " with its large bay flowers in hand and opens between Rosenweide ( community center) and Over (municipality Seevetal ) on " Seevehaus " by the Seevesiel into the Elbe.

Hydrology

The Seeve has therefore often called a relatively constant water temperature of 6-8 degrees Celsius and is also the coldest river in northern Germany in summer and in winter. The water of the Seeve has consistently Class II ( moderately polluted ). Only the Ashauser mill creek brings just before the mouth of water quality class II -III ( critically polluted ).

Seeve Cycle Path

The Seeveradweg is almost exactly one hundred kilometers long. Significant gradients do not exist. In part, unpaved field or sand paths are used. The total distance is divided into three sections divided (Ring 1 " from the source through the heath "; ring 2 "By Seeveaue "; ring 3 " to Seevemündung to the Elbe ").
