Sefyu

Sefyu (* 1982 in Senegal, real name Youssef Soukouna ) is a French rapper of Senegalese roots.

Biography

After his birth in Senegal Sefyus family emigrated to France and he grew up in Paris. Actually, he was a promising footballer who had been hired even in the youth of Arsenal, before a knee injury built his upcoming professional career. He is close friends even today with the French international Alou Diarra.

He turned to the rap music and the end of the 90s he founded with four other hip- hop crew Natural Court Circuit (NCC ). Sefyu is the Verlan version of his first name Youssef. In 2001 he began in the Parisian hip- hop scene to make a name and after he had been represented by some of the tracks on well known compilations and mix tapes, he brought in 2005 with Molotov 4 his first mixtape out. It was so successful that it has been opened for a second time in 2006.

With his debut album Qui suis - je? he had then in 2006 the first major commercial success. It debuted at number 14 in the French album charts and stayed more than a year in the Top 200 over 50,000 times the album sold. Sefyus trademark is that he does not show his face on shots open, but can be seen obliquely from behind or covered or in the shade.

2008 is his second album was released: Suis je le gardien de mon frère? . It debuted at # 1 on the charts and has established itself in the French-speaking neighboring countries. It also helped Sefyu finally become one of the big names in the French hip -hop.
