Sehlde

Sehlde is a municipality in the southwest of the velvet municipality Baddeckenstedt in the district of Wolfenbüttel, Lower Saxony, Germany.

At Sehlde the communities Baddeckenstedt limits ( seat of the velvet municipality ), armies and Haverlah, the community Wallmoden ( Samtgemeinde Lutter am Barenberg, Landkreis Goslar) and the district of Hildesheim with the unit communities Bockenem and Holle.

History

The first written mention of the village is to be found in the foundation charter of the monastery Ringelsheim of 941 in which, among the possessions of the monastery which also in Selida ( so the place was called at the time ) are listed. Referred to in the traditions of the place names vary only slightly, until the 13th century it is said most selede or selethe. The today's notation similar Seelde one finds for the first time in 1374, since the 17th century Sehlde is in use.

In a document of 1209 for the first time maiore between the towns selede ( United Sehlde ) and minore selede (small Sehlde ) is distinguished. Small Sehlde was about one kilometer southeast of the present-day Sehlde. From the 16th century, the distinction between large and small Sehlde but is no longer listed, was probably the two places merged.

One of the landowners in the village belonged next to the monastery Ringelsheim the diocese of Hildesheim and the monasteries Riechenberg and Neuwerk and the pin Simonis and Judae near Goslar.

Sehlde 1802 Prussian, as the Bishopric of Hildesheim was annexed to the Kingdom of Prussia. In the Napoleonic period 1807-1813 Sehlde belonged as commune in the Canton Holle in the district of Goslar in the department of Oker the Kingdom of Westphalia. With the reorganization of the Prussian order of the district Marienburg was formed in 1885, belonged to the Sehlde from now on. 1941 Sehlde was assigned along with nine other communities as part of the " Regulation on field adjustments in the space of Reich Works Hermann Göring" the Wolfenbüttel district and since 1974 belongs here for Samtgemeinde Baddeckenstedt.

Hubertus chapel and house hunters

About three kilometers west of Sehlde are the Hubertus Chapel and the Lodge. The present building of the Church of Sehlde was built in the late 17th century. This is proven by several inscriptions, as the year digits 1696 on the tower of the church and the wooden cornice. On the south side of the tower is to be read " M. HANS BRVNKEN ANNO 1698 " and in an inscription of the south-east wall of the nave, the year 1702 is given. On the north side the inscription " Renovatum 1840 " for renovations announces this year. Noteworthy is the Baroque altar from 1749, which is attributed to the Hildesheimer woodcarver Ernst Dietrich Bartels ( 1679-1762 ).

In the Duchy of Brunswick, was one of the Sehlde at the time in 1568 by Duke Julius ( 1568-1589 ) introduced the Reformation. Today ( 2013) forms the Church of Sehlde together with communities of large and small armies a parish compound that belongs to the provost Goslar.

The nearest Catholic church is in Salzgitter Ringelsheim.

Coat of arms

Blazon: ". Green In a silver stag with a floating silver cross between the antlers " The coat of arms dates back to the Hubertus legend who is said to have happened in this case, at the chapel at Hunter House. By municipality, the railway Brunswick- Kreiensen runs. Nearest train station is about four kilometers east of the center of Sehlde train station Salzgitter Ringelsheim on which the aforementioned route intersects with the railroad Hildesheim - Goslar.
