Sehnde

Sehnde is a city in Lower Saxony at the southeastern edge of the region of Hannover ( since 18 October 1997). It consists of 15 districts with approximately 23,000 inhabitants.

Geography

Sehnde borders clockwise from the southwest, at Laatzen, Hanover and Taught, and to Hohenhameln ( district of Peine ) and Algermissen ( Hildesheim ).

History

Around 800, the area around Sehnde was populated by Frankish military colonists. The first written mention of the name Sehnde dates back to 1147. After several wars, the area between the braunschweigisch - Lüneburg Guelphs and the Bishopric of Hildesheim was divided. During this period included ten Sehnder districts to the great outdoors, while the remaining five the counties of Hanover and Hildesheim belonged.

For this reason, the Sehnder districts belonged to the local government reform to the three administrative districts of Lüneburg, Hildesheim and Hannover.

Until December 31, 2004 Sehnde belonged to the former government district of Hannover, which was dissolved as all Lower Saxony government districts.

Incorporations

The municipal reform, which took effect on 1 March 1974, created the new church from the 15 previously independent municipalities Bilm, Bolzum, Dolgen, evern, Gretenberg, Haimar, Hoever, llth, Small Lobke, Müllingen, Rethmar, Sehnde, Wassel, Wehmingen and Wirringen.

Religion

The Evangelical-Lutheran congregation Sehnde belongs to the parish of Burgdorf. To her the historic Holy Cross Church belongs in Sehnde on the southern edge of the former village core. In 1963 at the Pape wood built Bonhoeffer House with church hall and community rooms was abandoned in 2012 and sold to the city.

The Catholic parish of St. Mary is part of the Office of the Dean Hanover. It has the same church from 1955 on Pape wood.

The Evangelical Free Church congregation Sehnde has its church at Steinweg, it is the church which was abandoned in 2006 by the New Apostolic congregation Sehnde. The closest New Apostolic Church is now located 8 km away, Taught. The Bible community Sehnde held their religious services in the meeting of Sehnde. The Jehovah's Witnesses have a meeting in Sehnde.

Other churches are in eingemeindeten to Sehnde districts.

Policy

The Council of the City Sehnde Council has 34 women and men. Since the local elections of 11 September 2011, the Council is as follows.

Culture and sights

In the district Rethmar the Regional Museum Sehnde, supported by the Association Regional Museum Sehnde eV Wehmingen The district is home to the Hanover tram museum, supported by the same club, which is located on the site of the former potash mine Hohenfels. The existing since 1979 culture club Sehnde eV provides monthly cultural events, among other things in the field of theater and literature.

Economy and infrastructure

The districts of the present city Sehnde were and are dominated by agriculture, with most districts walk through the construction areas to residential areas since the 1970s. 2004, the Penitentiary Sehnde was opened, making the population continued to increase.

Many decades was the most important potash mining industry. The first potash mine was sunk in 1896 in Wehmingen on the site of what is now called Hohenfels, and 1902 began with the promotion. Although the promotion has been decommissioned here in 1927, in the nucleus and in the district Sehnde llth Kali was but until the 1990s promoted for fertilizer and road salt production. An Affiliate fertilizer and road salt factory will continue to operate.

Kaliwerke

The potash Hohenfels was decommissioned in 1928. The mines have been filled from 1984 to 1992 with stockpile liquor from Halde Frederick Hall. The potash Frederick Hall was in operation from 1905 to 1981. The mine field was operated until 1981, by Kali Chemie AG, subsequently taken over by K S AG and operated until 1994 on. Were produced exclusively fertilizers. The potash Hugo in llth belonged to group mine Bergmannssegen - Hugo. After shut down in late 1994, potash fertilizer is produced from raw material received at the plant on. The mine is currently flooded with salt water and fresh water.

In addition to other smaller industrial plants existed until 1987 in Sehnde a sugar factory and today there are Höver in a cement factory.

Traffic

In Sehnde the federal highways 65 and 443 cross over to the nearby motorways 2 and 7 and B are reached 6 ( Messeschnellweg ).

Sehnde lies on the railway line Taught -Hildesheim. Since 2008, the line S 3 S-Bahn Hannover has hourly connections via Taught by Hanover Central Station and on Algermissen to Hildesheim Hauptbahnhof. Further develop the Üstra bus routes 370, 371, 372 and 390 as well as the regional bus 962 the city.
