Seiad Valley AVA

Seiad Valley AVA ( recognized since 29 June 1994) is an American Viticultural Area in the U.S. state of California. The area extends to the administrative area of Siskiyou County near the Klamath River and the border with the state of Oregon.

The wine-growing area with a protected designation of origin currently exists only on paper. The winery Seaid Valley Vineyards, whose working towards the wine region was recognized, presented its activities in the meantime.

Currently, there are about 1.2 hectares with the grape variety Riesling entire area is located at an altitude of about 540 m. The soil consists of alluvial soil, which was fortified by overburden former gold mines. It is especially the larger pieces of rock overburden that store the daily heat and the cooling effect of night air of the surrounding mountains softens.
