Seichō-ji

The Seicho -ji (Japanese清澄 寺, also in the Kun - reading Kiyosumi -dera called ) is a Buddhist temple. It is located in the district Kiyosumi Kamogawa, not far from the place of birth of Nichiren (1222 - 1282), in Chiba Prefecture.

Its origins date back to the year 771, he served for a long time as the largest temple of the Tendai Buddhism on the Boso Peninsula. During the Edo period ( 1603-1868 ), he became a temple of Shingon Buddhism. Since the temple in the history of Nichiren Buddhism plays an important role, he was umgeweiht on 16 February 1949 on the occasion of the anniversary of the birth of Nichiren to a temple of the Nichiren shū.
