Seimone Augustus

Seimone Augustus ( born April 30, 1984 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States) is a professional basketball player. She currently plays for the Minnesota Lynx in the Women's National Basketball Association in the position of shooting guards.

Career

College

Seimone Augustus played as a shooting guard for the women's basketball team ( LSU Tigers ) Louisiana State University. Augustus led the Tigers three times in succession the semi-finals. She scored an average of 19.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2 assists ( assists) per game in their college days. Even if they could not win a title with the Tigers, they won several awards, including the Wooden Award and Wade Trophy. In addition, she was elected to the Naismith College Player of the Year.

Women's National Basketball Association

Seimone Augustus was selected in the WNBA Draft in 2006 in the first place by the Minnesota Lynx. In her first season for the Lynx, she came straight to an average of 21.9 points per game, also, she was elected to the WNBA Rookie of the Year. In the 2007 season they could improve their already excellent points average to 22.6 points per game. Only Lauren Jackson could finish this season with a better points average. In addition, she was elected to the WNBA All- Star team for the second time in a row.

Internationally

In 2008 she won the gold medal at the Summer Olympics in Beijing with the U.S. national basketball team.
