Seiunchin

Seiyunchin or Seienchin / Sēenchin (Japanese征 远 镇or征引 镇), Chinese Sui Yun Jing is an ancient Chinese kata in karate. This kata is taught in Goju - Ryu and Shito- Ryu.

Name

Sui means to follow the changing situations of a struggle free, Yun describes the movement and Jing means power or energy. Seiyunchin teaches, therefore, to be able to follow with constant pressure the movements of a struggle. The name Seiyunchin can also be interpreted as " dragging."

Origin

The origin of this kata is probably due to the internal Xingyiquan system. In the techniques only hand motions and no footwork occur, which is unusual for a kata.

Content

Seiyunchin was developed to promote a strong and stable state. Without a strong stand, it is impossible to achieve full power delivery. Therefore, the position Shiko dachi is strongly emphasized in Seiyunchin. Also Seiyunchin contains several drawing and throwing techniques for close combat situations.
