Sela (Edom)

With Sel'a ( rock city ) a city in Edom (Jordan) was referred to in the Old Testament, which is though not certain, identified with Petra (Arabic for rocks ). It lies north of Buseira where the last Babylonian king, Nabonidus, around 550 BC as a demonstration of power high up on the rocks a huge relief could make, after he had conquered Edom. The relief was only discovered in 1996. It shows the king who worships the Babylonian moon god Sin, next to the winged Shamash as the sun and the star of Venus as Ishtar, along with an inscription in five columns.
