The Selbbach ( Czech RACI creek ) is a left tributary of the river Eger in the Fichtelgebirge, district Wunsiedel (Northeast Bavaria). In official maps is called the river " Selb ", in the parlance " Selbbach " and dialect " Soll " or " Söllbooch ". The Selb gave the city its name Selb.

Name

The stream name will appear around the year 1360 as the " same thing ". Names interpretations speak of " dark-colored ache that comes from a bog. "

Source

The source version is on the territory of the Czech Republic southwest of the city Aš between yourself and the High Mountain Rain close to the border. The " Same Brünnerl " as the source version is called, the main school Selb, the Fichtel Mountain Club, the local association Selb and some sponsors is thanks to the inauguration took place on 27 June 1991. On their 20-km long path from the source to the mouth in the Eger east of Black hammer (municipality Thierstein ) it takes on the following tributaries: from right to Schatzbach, Bay Reuther Bach, Engelbach, Schafbach, Bern Steinbach (also Weissbach ), left the nettle Bach (formerly Asserbach ), length Auerbach and Rossbach.

Economic use

With the water power of Selb and their tributary streams once 19 mills were driven.

Tourist use

In the valley of Selbbaches runs between Black Hammer and Selb, a section of the bridge bike path Bavaria - Bohemia.
