Self-Propelled Modular Transporter

Self- Propelled Modular Transporter ( SPMT ), dt module self-propelling vehicle are mobile platforms with multiple axis ( lini ) s (at least two axes) and a private drive, called a Power Pack. They are used and allow the transport of very large and bulky cargo or project cargo to country. The transport platforms can be combined with each other in length and in width, and with a wide variety of accessories. SPMTs are controlled by a wireless control unit, a cable remote control or a driver's cab and are equipped with steering programs; and others:

  • Normal travel (straight ahead)
  • Crosswise drive (in the left or right movement )
  • Ride in a diagonal direction
  • Rotation of the entire platform, the so-called Karusselfahrt

The transport rate depends on the performance of the power pack, the weight and bulkiness of charge. At full capacity, the SPMT handled an average of 2 to less than 1 kilometer per hour. For special models, a speed of up to 10 km / h is possible.

The term SPMT was first used in the 1970s by the Scheuerle vehicle factory from Pfedelbach, which also has the first modular heavy-duty vehicle developed self-propelled. Since then SPMT is the general term for self-propelled modular vehicles.
