Selim Hassan

Selim Hassan (Arabic سليم حسن ) ( born April 15, 18871961) was an Egyptian Egyptologist.

Selim Hassan studied in Paris and earned his doctorate in 1939 in Vienna. As early as 1921 he was curator at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and later was the first Egyptian professor of Egyptology at the University of Cairo. Since 1928 he dug with Hermann Junker, Giza. Later, he headed his own excavations at Giza and Saqqara, and dug the so-called Central Field of Giza. He was the author of numerous monographs, among which are the results of excavations at Giza, in ten volumes, are located.
