Seminole County (Oklahoma)

Seminole County is a county located in the state of Oklahoma in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Wewoka.

Geography

The County is located just southeast of the geographic center of Oklahoma and has an area of ​​1659 square kilometers, of which 21 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Okfuskee County, Hughes County, Pontotoc County and Pottawatomie County.

History

Seminole County was formed on 16 July 1907 as original county of Seminole country. It was named after the North American Indian people of the Seminoles.
