Semonides of Amorgos

Semonides of Amorgos (also Simonides ) was a Greek iambic poet of the 7th century BC

Born in Samos poet received his nickname of Amorgos presumably because he was allegedly involved in a leading position in the founding of the colony Minoa on Amorgos island. His work is said to have has two books with blank verse, moreover, elegies. Only about 30 fragments have come down to us, including the so-called " women " iambic, the different categories of women with their vices lists.
