Semqen

Semqen is the proper name of an ancient Egyptian king or prince small the Second Intermediate Period (ca. 1650-1550 BC), but the date can not be precisely classified within this period.

He bears the title " Heqa - Chasut " which translates to " ruler of foreign lands " means and which is derived the word Hyksos. Semqen is so far attested only on a single scarab was found at Tell el- Yahudiya. The position of Semqen is controversial. Ryholt sees him tentatively as the first ruler of the 15th Dynasty, but points out that " Heqa - Chasut ", with one exception, is never connected to the royal titulary and these people tend officials, and no kings were, as is often assumed.
