Semtex

Semtex is a plastic explosive that is used not only in commercial explosives for military purposes. Industrially manufactured Semtex must be placed in the most States in accordance with the Montreal Convention with tracers, enable you to locate the explosive by dogs and explosives detectors.

Semtex was invented in 1966 by Stanislav Brebera, a chemist at the VCHZ Synthesia. Was first prepared the explosives by the Czech company Semtin Glass Works ( later VCHZ Synthesia, today Explosia ). Semtex is named after Semtín, a suburb of Pardubice in Eastern Bohemia. It consists largely of PETN and RDX, the rest is styrene - butadiene rubber. The explosive is nowadays equipped with markers, in order to ensure traceability.
