The Sendai Airport (Japanese仙台 空港, Sendai Kuko ) is a commercial airport located south of the city of Sendai in the administrative area of ​​the cities Natori and Iwanuma. The airport has two terminals, one international and one for national goals. The Sendai airport is considered by the Japanese legislation as second class airport.

A railway line to the airport, the Sendai Airport Line (仙台 空港 アクセス 線, Sendai Kuko akusesu sen), was opened on 18 March 2007, and connects the airport with the city center in about 25 minutes.

On 11 March 2011, the Sendai airport was inundated during the Tōhoku earthquake, a tsunami struck and was therefore closed until April 13, 2011 for commercial flights after military transport aircraft could land again and start as early as March 17.
