Senec, Slovakia

Senec ( German Wartberg, Hungarian Szenc - to 1907 Szempc ) is a city in western Slovakia.

It is located approximately 25 kilometers north-east of Bratislava, is a local center of the district Senec and popular summer resort of Bratislava.

History

The town is an old settlement site. From the 7th and 8th centuries comes a Slavic- Avar tomb. In the 11th century there was a Romanesque monastery church.
