Senegal Parrot
Mohrenkopf Parrot ( P. senegalus )
The Moor's head parrot ( Poicephalus senegalus ) is a species of parrot in the genus of the long wing parrots ( Poicephalus ). There are three subspecies.
Appearance
Head and face gray to dark gray, ear-coverts and latticed with lightly silver approach. Lower breast, abdomen, under wing - coverts and in bright light yellow, which delves into the abdominal center to Orange. Flight feathers and tail dark brown with olive approach. Back, legs and a shield- shaped chest band bright grass green. Bill blackish, iris yellow, glasses ( naked eye ring ) anthracite.
Dissemination
Senegal, Gambia, Guinea- Bissau and Guinea, Ivory Coast and Ghana east to western Nigeria, eastern and north-eastern Nigeria, northern Cameroon and southwestern Chad. The Moor's head parrots are usually site- faithful and just do local walks because of the food supply. Mohrenkopf parrots were encountered already up to an altitude of 1000m.
Voice
The Moor's head parrot belongs to the middle loud to loud parrots, which manifests itself with whistles and some high-pitched tones. The shrill penetrating voice is his identification with each other and is due to the communication in the vast plains of Africa.
