Sennhof (Winterthur)

Sennhof is an outdoor watch and also a district of the city of Winterthur and belongs to the group 3 ( lakes). A small part of Sennhof, Buhler mills on the other side of the Töss, belong to the municipality of Kyburg.

The place is geographically in Winterthur, the entrance to the Tösstal and is separated from the rest of the city by the Seemer Buck, which is crossed by a highway and the Tösstal train into the city. which is also the place belonging Buhler mills are on the other side of the Töss and thus belong to the municipality of Kyburg.

History

In Sennhof long time there was only a cattle and dairy farm, where the name of the current district stirred. 1847 the poorhouse of the community lakes was built in Sennhof in which had to live self-sufficiently, the families living there. 1850 lived in Sennhof 50 farmers and workhouse inmates. Its function retained the poorhouse until 1883.

Terms of the development Sennhofs more important is the establishment of the new factory of the Buhler mills in 1858 on the other side of the Töss (on the municipality of Kyburg ZH), which quickly developed an associated factory to factory village in Sennhof. 1875 Sennhof constituted as perhaps the last newly established civil parish of the canton of Zurich. On 1 October 1876, the town got its own post office. The first school house was built in 1899 on this site donated by the factory owners land. In 1900 Sennhof then scored already 300 residents who were almost all associated with the Buhler mills. 1921 Sennhof was incorporated together with the political community lakes in the city of Winterthur and dissolved the previously existing civil parish.

This is the agglomeration suburb of Winterthur developing Sennhof was there even in the 1980s by a high proportion of migrant workers extremely multicultural and had a foreign population of over 50 % on. More recently, the population of the outer guard is skyrocketed by new buildings, alone from 1990 to 2000, the number of inhabitants has almost doubled from 496 to 966. Traffic

Sennhof is located on the Tösstal railway line and is connected with the duty station location Sennhof - Kyburg to public transport, which is guided by the canton as a listed building of national importance. The station is serviced by the S26 (Winterthur HB - Bauma - Ruti ZH ) of the Zurich S-Bahn, which currently operates in a limping half hour.

A bus service to the village does not exist apart from a down only entertaining night bus.

Education

The primary school children are taught in the school building Sennhof, the new building was opened in 2008.

For the advanced level, students have to go to secondary school building upper lakes.

Culture and Leisure

In the village there with the restaurant cheerfulness an inn to which the village is a popular starting point for trips to Schloss Kyburg.
