Senoi

The Senoi are one of the Orang Asli indigenous tribes known as the elongated Malay Peninsula in present-day Malaysia.

Among the Senoi, where several ethnic groups can be distinguished, including about 12.000 to 18.000 members. Traditionally, they lived primarily in the interior of the mountains as a hunter in the tropical rain forests. This way of life they retained partially in until the beginning of the 20th century. The Senoi speak their own language, which belongs to the Mon-Khmer languages.

Lately, much has been published about the dreams of the Senoi. One focus is on lucid dreams, which contribute to their satisfaction and their mental health. The veracity of these publications is, however, doubtful. The reports of alleged cultural integration of lucid dreams could of scientists, who hired on-site investigations, not be confirmed.
