Sepp Daxenberger

Sepp (actually Joseph) Daxenberger ( born April 10, 1962 in Waging am See, † August 18 2010 in Bavaria) was a German politician of the party Alliance 90/The Greens in the Bavarian Parliament.

Life

According to the medium maturity Daxenberger trained as a blacksmith, he passed the master's examination. Later he became a farmer in the district Nirnharting in Waging am See.

In December 2003, a myeloma, a cancer of the bone marrow was diagnosed with what it impaired repeatedly in his political activities. In June 2010, he suffered a mild stroke. On August 18, 2010, he succumbed to cancer. His wife Gertraud (* 1961), died 49 -year-old three days before his 15 August 2010 also from cancer. Daxenberger and his wife left behind three sons aged 20, 18 and 12 years.

Political career

Sepp Daxenberger was 1990-1996 Member of the Bavarian Parliament. In the Group of the Greens he was agricultural and youth affairs spokesman. From 1998 to 2003 he represented the Green Party in the county council of Upper Bavaria.

From 1996 to 2008 he was a full-time mayor of Waging am See and becoming the first Green mayor in Bavaria. During this time, the Greens were the strongest party in the municipal council. From November 2002 to October 2008, he was state chairman of the Bavarian countryside (since November 2003 together with Theresa Schopper ).

2006 Daxenberger was confirmed for two more years on the Land Conference in spite of sickness absence with 92.5 % in his office as state chairman. On June 7, 2008 Daxenberger was elected at the Land Conference with 93 % for the sole top candidates of the Bavarian countryside for the state election in 2008. He was elected on the regional list of Upper Bavaria in the state legislature. Because the Green Party statutes, which provide for separation of office and mandate, Sepp Daxenberger thus retired from the State Executive Committee. His successor as state chairman was elected at the Land Conference in Rosenheim in October 2008 Dieter Janecek. Since the 2008 election Daxenberger was Group President of the Bavarian Parliament, together with Margarete Bause. On June 9, 2010 joined Daxenberger illness back of this office.

In addition, he was an Advisor in Bavaria covenant.
