Liebesrausch on Capri is an American feature film from the year 1950.

Action

The concert pianist and Manina Stuart industrialist David Lawrence fly from Rome to the United States. The plane is forced to land due to engine problems in Naples and the two previously unknown to each other to use the time to get to know the city. Manina is single and David's marriage to Catherine plugged into problems. The visit Naples leads Manina and David each other. When they miss the onward flight, the two decide to stay for a while in Naples. Visit Pompeii and Capri. David tells Manina from his work and his marriage. His wife Catherine had already agreed to a divorce, however, changed in a recent letter their opinion. Manina insists that their friendship remained platonic. Finally, they decide to return to the U.S.. In the newspaper they read then, however, that the aircraft with which they were supposed to fly, crashed over the Mediterranean and their names are on the death list. Suddenly they have the chance to start their lives a second time.

The couple rented a villa in Florence, and they enter their professional careers on. At the same time mourning in the U.S. with Catherine 's son David Jr. to the unfortunate husband and father. Catherine learns also from a dubious bank statement of her husband to a Maria Salvatini. They hypothesized that this woman has been her husband's mistress and she will now never know if he wanted to return the divorce or her. Catherine and David eventually make their way to Italy to search for Maria Salvatini. When Catherine appears in Maria Salvatini, also Manina is present. Manina realizes that Catherine blames herself for the accidental death of David, because he wanted to return to her. David Jr. finally realizes Manina from the newspaper reports of the plane crash. Catherine suddenly sees that her husband is cheating with Manina, but is still much happier about the fact that David is still alive. As Manina want to visit them in the hotel, it only applies to David Jr., who confesses that he and his mother know the true story. Catherine now writes David that they agree to a divorce.

Manina and David are now returning to her old life and in their professions. Manina is an extremely successful concert at New York's Carnegie Hall. Both, however, need to realize that the return will not survive in their Occupations their relationship. Manina assumes a commitment in South America and leaves David.

Background

The screenplay was based on a story by Fritz Rotter and Robert Thoeren. In the screenplay, Ben Hecht had cooperated. However, he appeared uncredited. The film was made 1949/1950 on location. The world premiere took place at the International Film Festival in Venice August 25, 1950. In the film, Walter Huston is to listen to the song September Song by Kurt Weill and Maxwell Anderson musical Knickerbocker Holiday from. Walter Huston had a big Broadway success with this musical 1938/39. Huston, however, died before the completion of the film.
