The adjective septic ( from the Greek: sepsis = rot) referred to in medicine

• Contaminated by pathogens, as the opposite of germ-free,
• The form of damage induced by sepsis (blood poisoning) or a generalized infection caused thereby subsequent state. This is also related septicemia.
