Sequatchie County, Tennessee

Sequatchie County is a county located in the state of Tennessee in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Dunlap.

Geography

The County is located in southeastern Tennessee, is located in the Duden about 45 miles from Alabama and Georgia and has an area of 689 square kilometers, without significant water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Van Buren County, Bledsoe County, Hamilton County, Marion County, Grunby County and Warren County.

History

Sequatchie County was formed on December 9, 1857 from parts of Hamilton County. It was named after a term used in the Cherokee language.
